Soulard Rummage Sale

Saturday May 18

SCROLL DOWN

Soulard Rummage Sale

Saturday May 18

Join us for the Soulard neighborhood-wide rummage sale, co-hosted by the Soulard Restoration Group (SRG) and Soulard Business Association (SBA)! This community event offers residents and businesses a chance to declutter, sell items, and engage in the circular economy.

Event Details:

  • Who: Soulard residents and businesses (Register here)

  • What: One-day rummage sale across various Soulard locations

  • Where: Residential and commercial properties throughout Soulard sidewalks, yards, alleys, and garages. A map with all locations will be publicized.

  • When: Saturday, May 18, 8am–3pm (Rain date: Sunday, May 19)

  • Why: A perfect opportunity to clean out, recycle, and earn

  • How: Register by April 12, 2024, with a $25 fee covering your spot on the map, permits, and advertising. The remaining funds support SRG and SBA.

Don't miss out on this unique event to find treasures in Soulard and be part of our vibrant community!

  • Excellent! Tell us about your sale by filling out the registration form here.

  • Registering allows the event organizers to plan for the number of properties that will be participating in the sale and advertise accordingly. The $25 registration fee will secure your spot in the sale, add your sale to the map, cover any required permitting, and take care of advertising expenses/signage. Any remaining money collected will be divided between the two event organizers: Soulard Restoration Group (SRG) and Soulard Business Association (SBA).

  • Only Soulard addresses will be listed on the map and advertised as part of the sale. If you’re in a neighboring community, feel free to set up shop and piggyback off our sale!

  • Set up your sale anywhere on your property — yard, sidewalk, garage, or alley. Just be sure to make sure there is room for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

If your property is not easily accessible and you'd like to find an alternate location to sell items, please reach out to community@soulard.org. We have a limited number of alternate spaces available.

  • Yes, each seller gets to keep 100% of the profits made during the sale. Cha-ching!

  • We ask that you are ready for shoppers during the duration of the advertised sale times, beginning at 8am and ending at 3pm. Feel free to extend your hours (and profits) by starting earlier or ending later.

  • Feel free to sell *almost* anything and everything — home decor, antiques, clothing, shoes, accessories, jewelry, furniture, lamps, kitchenware, toys/games, records, books, artwork, sports memorabilia, sporting/exercise equipment, musical instruments, holiday decorations, small appliances, homemade crafts, and tools/yard equipment.

  • Please do not sell firearms, weapons, explosives, pharmaceuticals, or any graphic/obscene material.

  • Determine which items you want to sell. Clean/dust them, take note of their condition (i.e. a missing button on a coat or a vase with a chip), and price them accordingly using stickers or tags. Group like items and display them using tables, shelves, clothing racks/hangers, carts, and/or boxes to make your items appealing and presentable. Determine if you want to set up a mirror or changing area for people to try on any of the items. Decide if you need to have access to electricity/extension cords for people to test out electrical items. Establish an area where you can check out buyers and keep track of your sales. Make sure you have enough small bills ($1s, $5s, $10s, and $20s) on hand to make change. Consider offering shopping bags or boxes and wrapping paper to keep fragile items safe.

  • Typically cash is king at most rummage sales, but if you want to offer other forms of payment (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Zelle), make sure you determine this ahead of time and download/install the necessary apps. We recommend having a QR code or your account information listed on signs notifying which forms of payment you accept. It is also a good idea to test out forms of payment that require WiFi ahead of time to ensure that payment is successful at the location of your sale.

  • If there are larger items that didn’t sell, consider posting them on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or Nextdoor. If you wish to donate your unsold items, check out the charities on this list.

  • Please email community@soulard.org with any additional questions.

13th and Gravois Transformation

Exciting changes are coming

Citizens for Modern Transit and AARP in St. Louis are excited to unveil plans for revitalizing the MetroBus stop at the juncture of 13th St. and Gravois Ave! This "Transit Stop Transformation Project" will reinvent the space into a dynamic, inviting area with new designs, comfortable seating, ample shade, and welcoming green spaces. They are inviting transit users, community members, officials, and all invested parties to contribute their vision for this transformation by completing an online survey.

Examples of previous transit stop transformations can be found here.
