Gathering of the Mob Parade details
The peasants on parade will step off at 6 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Howards in Soulard, 2732 S. 13th St. and wind their way to the following establishments, including:
Capitalist Pig, 2727 S. 12th St.
Fleur de Lilies, 1031 Lynch St.
Cat's Meow, 2600 S. 11th St.
Big Daddy's, 1000 Sidney St.
The Good Luck Bar & Grill, 2501 S. 9th St.
D's Place, 900 Barton St.
The pub crawl will end with the 'beheadings' of this year's king and queen in Pontiac Square Park, located between South 9th and 10th streets and Shenandoah and Ann avenues.
Soulard will celebrate its French heritage with a return to Bastille Days on Friday, July 10, by honoring the peasants who rejected the monarchy with a neighborhood version of “Gathering the Mob.”
You’re invited to be part of the mob that will form at 5 p.m. at Howards in Soulard, located at the corner of South 13th and Lynch streets. This event calls for your worst peasant attire, anti-monarchy signs and a thirst for vengeance as the mob will seek out the dastardly “King Louis XVI” and “Queen Marie Antoinette,” capture them (in a really nice carriage) and force them through the streets to their gruesome demise under the guillotine in Pontiac Square Park.
The mob, er, your fellow Soulardians, will be able to parade behind the doomed duo, along with Joia’s powerful percussion, as we celebrate the history and uniqueness of all things Soulard.
The parade will step off at 6 p.m., winding its way from Howards to Pontiac Square Park where there will be plenty of time for festivities after the “beheading."
